Patent infringement action filed.
Viking Arm AS has on 16 April 2024 filed a patent infringement action before the Nordic-Baltic Regional Division of the UPC against Stanley Black & Decker Inc. and its group companies. The action relates to an ongoing infringement of Viking Arm AS’ Unitary Patent EP 3953541 (EP’541).
Viking Arm AS’ innovative product – the VIKING ARM® a hand held tool with a lifting capacity of up to 150kg/330lb with a wide encompassing range of applications – makes use of the pioneering invention protected under EP’541. The VIKING ARM® was launched in Norway during the fall of 2019 and the product became an instant success story, and Viking Arm AS has since rapidly expanded its sales throughout the European Union, as well as in the United States.
Viking Arm AS currently commercializes its innovative product, the VIKING ARM®, in 37 countries across the globe.
In light of Stanley Black & Decker Inc and its group companies’ refusal to cease and desist with a lowering mechanism for a hand held jacking tool that they now are offering and placing on the markets across the globe, therein including the UPC Member States, and which Viking Arm AS is of the opinion infringes upon EP’541, Viking Arm AS has commenced infringement action against Stanley Group before the Nordic-Baltic Regional Division of UPC.
Under the current publicly available statistics, Viking Arm AS’ action will be the sixth infringement action filed with the Nordic-Baltic Regional Division since the commencement of the UPC in June 2023
